On Senior Day it was a freshman who came through in the clutch.  Alex Alba cranked a single to left to bring home the game winning run in the second game of the double header, and gave the Bobcats the sweep.  The Bobcats defeated Sacred Heart 6-2 in the first game and 5-4 in the second.

The Bobcats (26-22, 13-5 NEC) jumped on the board first in the second game thanks to an RBI single from Kelly Wall in the second.  But the Pioneers took the lead in the fourth, scoring twice and tacking on another in sixth.

But the Bobcats wouldn’t give up.  They came back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead.  All three runs scored on a two out three run homerun from Wall.

But the Pioneers tied the game in the seventh.  In the bottom of inning, Alba came through in the clutch.  Alex Murray and Angela Caslla led off the inning with back to back singles.  Katie Allendorfer was intentionally walked to setup Alba, who didn’t miss.

In the first game, the Bobcats fell behind early but quickly took the lead and never looked back.  They scored twice in the second, third and fifth inning and cruised to the 6-2 win.

Heather Schwartburg finished the day with 11 strikeouts.
