After out slugging Monmouth in the first game of the day, the Bobcats needed extra innings to beat the Hawks in the second game.

After going down 4-0 in the second inning of the first game, the Bobcats exploded for six runs in the third inning.  Heather Maffeo and Alex Alba each had two RBIs in the inning.  Alba drove in the first runs of the inning on a bases loaded double to left.  Emily Bellush followed with a single to bring in another run.  A fielder’s choice groundout brought in the fourth run of the inning.  One out later Maffeo singled to left to bring in the last two runs of the inning.

But the scoring wasn’t done there.  The Hawks responded with seven runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.  The offense was highlighted by a grand slam from Emily DeLong.

The Bobcats weren’t done either, as they scored five more runs in the fourth to tie the game at 11.  Kelly Wall’s three run homerun with two outs highlighted the attack.

The Bobcats took the lead for good in the fifth when they scored two more runs.  Katie Allendorfer drove in the game winning run with a single to left.  A bases loaded walk to Kim Brzezinski brought in second run of the inning.  The Bobcats tacked on another run in the sixth to seal the win.

In the second game, the Bobcats again fell behind early and chipped away at the lead.  The Hawks humped out to a 3-0 lead after three but the Bobcats scored twice in the fourth to cut the lead to one.  Maffeo drove in the runs with a single to center.

The Bobcats forced extra innings by tying the game in the seventh on a bases loaded walk to Wall.  Maffeo drove in the game winner in the eighth with a single to left.

Heather Schwartzburg pitched in both games, striking out 10 and tying the Quinnipiac single season record for strikeouts with 206, which she set last season.
