The Bobcats were no hit through six innings before Alex Alba broke it up in the seventh as the Bobcats fell to Fairfield 7-1. The loss snaps the Bobcats four game winning streak.
The Stags jumped on the board early, scoring four times in the first. The Stags scored on a two run triple and two singles off of Bobcats starter Jaimie Iaquinto. Iaquinto never made it out of the first and Heather Schwartzburg came on in relief and shut the Stags down.
The Stags tacked on three more runs in the sixth to take a commanding 7-0 lead and seal the win.
The Stags’ Sarah Mince kept the Bobcats off the base baths, allowing only one walk through the first six innings. She struck out 10 Bobcats overall and gave up only one run.
That lone Bobcat run came in the seventh. Alba’s single spoiled Mince’s no hit bid. Emily Bellush doubled to bring home Lauren Salgado who had pinch run for Alba.
Schwartzburg struck out three Stags through her 4 1/3 innings of work.
