Bryant Finishes Sweep of Bobcats
For the fourth straight game, the Bobcats fell to Bryant and were swept in the four game series. The Bobcats fell behind early and mounted a comeback late but it was not enough.
The Bulldogs roughed up Bobcat starter Derek Lamacchia for five runs in 3 1/3 innings. Andrew Rinaldi followed Lamacchia and gave up eight runs in just one inning.
After five innings the Bobcats trailed 15-1 after five innings of play, but Alex Russo and Todd DeFrancesco limited the Bulldogs to tow runs over the next four innings to give the Bobcats a chance.
The Bobcats got two runs back in the sixth on RBI singles from Ben Farina and Joe Poletsky. But in the Bulldogs got the run back in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh the Bobcats scored three more times. With two outs an error by the Bulldog shortstop allowed Gabe Guerino to score and put runners on first and second. A second error by shortstop loaded bases for Brian Monack. Monack delivered with a single to left ot bring home to two runs. After a pitching change and a walk to Joe Poletsky, Chris Migani grounded out to end the inning.
In the ninth the Bobcats exploded for five runs. Kyle Nisson drove in the first run with a slow grounder down the third base line. After Ray Buckley struck out, a passed ball brought in the second run of the inning. Jeff Carino blasted a pitch that bounced off the scoreboard in right center for a three-run homerun. But that would be all the Bobcats would get as Mickey Amanti grounded out to end the game.
Ben Farina finished the day 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
