For the first time during the 2010 baseball season, the Quinnipiac Bobcats are in the win column.  The Bobcats (1-12, 1-0 NEC) defeated Mount St. Mary’s 9-1 in a Northeast Conference matchup to win their first game of the season.

Kyle Oskandy led the way for the Bobcats, pitching the complete game and giving up only one run on seven hits while striking out five.  The offense scored early and it was more than enough for Oskandy.

The Bobcats struck in the first on a groundout by Joe Poletsky and a single by Gabe Guerino to take the 2-0 lead.  The Bobcats blew the game open in the fourth when they scored five times to take a 7-0 lead.  A bases loaded walk to Mike Bartlett, a two run single by Brian Monack, and a two run from Chris Migani brought in all five runs.

The Bobcats added two more runs in the seventh after the Mountaineers had scratched across a run.

This was the first of a four game series between the two teams
