Kent Worthington accomplished a very rare feat Sunday: he threw a no-hitter as the Mount St. Mary’s downed the Bobcats 18-0.  Worthington struck nine in the game.

The Mountaineers struck early and often, including seven times in the first two innings.  Mount St. Mary’s hit three homeruns on the afternoon and had seven players with multiple hits.

By the time the Bobcats (1-15, 1-3 in NEC) got the first runner on base in fourth, it was 7-0 and Worthington was in control.  The Bobcats would never get more than one runner on base at a time and none of them past second base.

The Mountaineers extended the lead to 10-0 in the fifth on a three-run homerun from Zach Helman.  The blast ended Bobcat starter Todd DeFrancesco’s day after giving up 10 runs on 10 hits.  The Mountaineers tacked on eight more runs to finish off the Bobcats.
