Baseball Falls To Fairfield
A 3-for-4 day for Brian Monack was not enough to save the Bobcats as they fell to Fairfield 7-3. The game was close until the Stags scored three runs in each the fourth and fifth innings.
The Bobcats (3-21) scored first but it would be the only time the lead the entire game. Mickey Amanti singled to start the game. A single from Monack moved Amanti to second where he was driven in by Joe Poletsky. But the Stags tied the game in the bottom of the first.
A three run homerun from Marco Gamella gave the Stags a 4-1 lead in the fourth. After the Bobcats cut the lead to one on a two run double from Monack, the Stags scored three more times in the fifth to pull out the victory.
Bobcat starter Kyle Birdsall gave up seven runs, only four earned, on seven hits over five innings. His counterpart for the Stags, Sam Robertson, gave up three runs on nine hits while striking out five over eight innings.
