Mickey Amanti fell a triple short of the cycle as the Bobcats beat Long Island 9-5.  Amanti went 4 for 5 on the day, driving in four runs.

It was a scoreless game before the Blackbirds took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third.  But that lead would not last long as the Bobcats (4-22, 4-5 NEC) came back in the bottom of the innings.  Joe Poletsky drove in the first run with a single to center.  A double steal brought home the tying run when Chris Migani got caught in a run down and Poletsky scored from third.

The Bobcats took their first lead of the game in the fifth when Poletsky drove in two with a double to left.  The Bobcats expanded the lead to 9-3 in the sixth.  Ryan Ullrich drove in the first run with a single to center.  Amanti followed with a three run home run to left to cap the Bobcats’ scoring.

The Blackbirds attempted a comeback in the ninth but were shut down after scoring twice.

Mike Oskandy picked up the win for the Bobcats, going eight innings, giving up 3 runs on six hits and striking out eight.
