One day after seeing their five game NEC winning streak come to an, the Bobcats got back to winning, downing Central Connecticut State University 3-2. Anthony Cinelli led the way for the Bobcats on the mound, throwing 6 and 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and striking out three.
The Bobcats (10-25, 9-7 NEC) jumped on the board quickly in the first when Joe Poletsky drove in Ben Farina with a double to left. But the Blue Devils tied the game in the second when Mitch Wells blasted a home run to right.
The Blue Devils’ lead would not last long as the Bobcats retook the lead in the third. After loading the bases with two outs, Chris Migani sent a groundball to the shortstop that was mishandled, allowing Migani to reach and a run to score.
The Blue Devils tied the game again in the sixth with a two out single to left from Kyle Zarotney. But the lead again wouldn’t last long as the Bobcats took the lead for the final time in the seventh. After a Mickey Amanti single, Farina drove a pitch into the gap in right center to bring home Amanti.
The Blue Devils threatened to tie the game in the ninth but Derek Lamacchia struck out the final batter with the tying run on third.
